Shortly after the Jigawa petrol tanker that claimed the lives of over ninety people, another incident similar to it occurred in Ibadan, Oyo State.
According to the FRSC spokesperson, Florence Okpe IIJ , a statement released in Abeokuta noted that the tanker was loaded with Premium Motor Spirit (PMS).
The corps said that the accident happened at about 10:00am on Wednesday. After inspecting the incident, they noted that the explosion that hit the Ibafo axis of the Lagos -Ibadan Expressway did not claim any life rather the victims were all injured.
A source revealed that tanker’s tyre busted and the driver lost control of the vehicle which resulted to the spilling of the contents on the road.
Florence Okpe stated that the fire service was called immediately the incident occured. But before they could reach the accident scene, five cars were already burnt and three men were injured.
The injured victims were taken to the hospital to receive medical attention at Divine Hospital, Ibafo and General Hospital in Sagamu.
Sector Commander, Akinwumi Fasakin, also cautioned motorists to take good care of their vehicles and ensure the tyres are not worn out to prevent accidents.
