Sonia Mbele married Leslie Sedibe in 2006 after dating, but their marriage ended in 2014.

In a 2023 interview, Sonia Mbele revealed that she was diagnosed with chronic anemia after suffering from weeks of fatigue. She is currently undergoing treatment for her iron deficiency.
