Emmanuel Andrews Sammini, better known as Samini, was born on December 22, 1982, in Accra, Ghana.

He is a renowned reggae and dancehall musician from Wa, Ghana, who fuses highlife, dancehall, reggae, and hip-hop to create a distinctive style referred to as “African dancehall.”

Samini began his career with Ashanti International before establishing his own record label.

Raised in the Upper West Region of Ghana by Mr. G.A. Samini and Theresa Nusala, Samini completed his early education at Holy Family Basic School and later attended St. Margaret Mary Secondary School in Dansoman for his secondary education.

CAREER

Samini’s musical journey commenced at the age of 14 when he joined a church choir, which paved the way for his professional career.

In 1999, a collaboration with another artist significantly propelled his career forward.

His debut album, “Dankwasere,” released in 2004, garnered success on local music charts and earned accolades at the Ghana Music Awards, featuring popular tracks like “Linda.”

Throughout his career, Samini has shared the stage with international stars such as Sean Paul, Akon, and Jay-Z, boosting his global recognition.

His talent has been acknowledged with awards, including the “Best African Act” at the 2006 MOBO Awards.

With albums like “Samini” and “Dagaati,” he continues to enchant audiences around the globe through tours in countries such as the UK, Germany, and Canada.

Samini’s influence on the music industry is clear, as his 2018 album “UNTAMED” was awarded Album of the Year by an online reggae magazine.

He recently added to his impressive body of work with the release of his latest album, “Dankwasere (Reloaded),” in 2020.

PERSONAL LIFE

As a beloved reggae and dancehall artist, Samini has embraced marriage and family life, balancing his music career with his responsibilities as a dedicated father to his four children.

Celebrated for his musical prowess, he was bestowed the title of ‘Pebilii Naa’ by WaNaa in 2018.

Furthermore, as a graduate of GIMPA in Project Management, Samini previously held the position of President of the GIMPA SRC.
