Edo Governor declares willingness to submit to EFCC after his tenure

The Governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki has announced that he is willing to cooperate with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) after his tenure ends.

He made this statement while speaking at the EdoBEST National Results-Sharing Session in Abuja.

He further noted that he is not hiding anything because he was transparent with his services during his tenure. He stated that he is ready to give account of his administration’s achievement.

He said, “There are many things we have done that can be described as legacy projects.

“I believe in Edo state. One of the things that will last for a very long time to come is the fact that we were able to focus on Edo people and the things that matter to them, reform and implement those things.”

He noted that there is no skeleton in his cupboard and he is ready for EFCC whenever they come for him.

Obaseki stated, “I’m not afraid of the EFCC. Why should I be? What is important is focus.

“I came into office and ignored the noise, concentrating on what I felt was important, and today you can see the results.”

He described his opponents as people that are “just cruel, they are very wicked people, they are very jealous people, they are very envious because they cannot show as much of their achievements as we have achieved in the last eight years.”

“Why should I have fears? I think what is important is focus, I came in and ignored the noise and just focused on what I felt was important and today, you can see the results.

“What happens after that is not up to me. If these people come in and continue their political witch hunt and do whatever they think they can do to hurt me, is their problem. So I am not afraid. I’m not worried. I know they are generating a lot of unnecessary and silly petitions but I am not afraid, it’s part of the challenge.”

He also mentioned that whenever the EFCC is requires his presence, he will answer them without hesitation.

“If they (EFCC) will pick me up, I can even hand in myself over if they call me , I don’t have anything to hide, so I’m not afraid.

“But you know how this country is, there is a lot of bitterness, there is a lot of vendetta and there is a lot wickedness, you know the kind of people that are opposed to me in Edo State, they are just cruel, they are very wicked people, they are very jealous people, they are very envious because they cannot show as much of their achievements as we have achieved in the last eight years.”
