BBNaija Phyna opens up about her struggles as she publicly drops her family surname

Big Brother Naija “Level Up” winner, Phyna, whose full name is Ijeoma Otabor, has announced that she will no longer be using her family surname, Otabor.

Phyna, the Big Brother Naija “Level Up” winner, took to Twitter to announce that she’s dropping her surname, Otabor, revealing that she’s been investigating her family background and shockingly discovered that she appears to have no known family and unclear origins, leaving her searching for answers and struggling to cope with this revelation.

Phyna, the reality star and actress, expressed her emotional turmoil, stating that she’s struggling to put into words the overwhelming feelings and experiences she’s currently facing. She reflected on her tumultuous childhood, revealing that she was frequently moved around, but was too young at the time to suspect that anything was amiss.

I am publicly dropping my family surname OTABOR. It has been proven that I actually have no family and nobody knows how I came about. I’m still searching for answers though. It’s been rough with me lately. I’m in a place where I can’t even describe how I feel or what to call what I’m going through rn. Going up and the way I was toss around relative, I should have suspected, but I guess I was too young. Omo my head wan tear!!!!!!”

One Msvera Chidera wrote, “Do what you gotta do my darling, some of these adults didn’t have any business birthing in the first place

One Its_Katchy wrote, “That’s you and your family’s yawa. All of us have our family matters

One Kamaara wrote, “And you think social media people care? Everyone has got issues!! Save us the stress and shut it

One Gritty Nazy wrote, “Am I the only one that understood this write-up to mean that she found out she is not the biological daughter of her parents?”.

Last year, Phyna’s father gave an interview where he shared his painful experience with his daughter, alleging that she had abandoned him after winning Big Brother Naija. He claimed that Phyna had made promises to support him, but failed to fulfill them, and that he hadn’t seen or heard from her since her win.

Phyna responded to her father’s interview by calling out the media outlet for allegedly harassing her with constant texts and calls, which she claimed was traumatic. She shared that the experience was so distressing that it brought her to tears, a rare occurrence for her. In a dramatic expression of her emotional pain, Phyna even went as far as to say that she was willing to surrender her body to her family to do with as they pleased after she passes away.

Going on Comedian DeeOne intervened in Phyna’s family drama by offering her father N500,000, while also seemingly throwing shade at Phyna, advising her to stop living a fake life.
